I used to find that BB loads left me with too many open holes with open chokes and inconsistent/blown patterns as it got tightened up. I can put in a skeet or IC choke and have a very full pattern and up the kill count and if I know I need to tighten it up for longer shots I can and still have kill power and very uniform patterns. I don't know about most people, but I don't think I ever have geese outside 30-35 yards and that's why I like 1s.
Unless you're planning on taking 55 yard shots all day, I don't think you'll have any issue for geese. I used to shoot the Kent Silver Steel 3" #1 and the patterns were fine, but these Remingtons are really good. When the Rem Nitros were on sale last year I bought a case of 3" #1 shot and it has amazing patterns out of my Benelli Mobil chokes. I like the higher pellet count for geese and it's a great combo load. I consistently shoot geese from 45 yards and in and never have issues. #1 shot is my go to size for large Canadas here in Michigan and wherever my hunting travels take me.
